BMO Ascend World Elite Mastercard – How to Maximize the Welcome Offer

As you can see, to get the full 115,000-point welcome bonus, there are several spending tiers to reach.

You could simply choose to reach the first tier, which already offers you 60,000 points after $5,000 in purchases within the first 110 days of account opening. This already represents a value of approximately $400 for any travel purchase charged to the card!

But if you wish to unlock the full welcome bonus, here is a simulation of the points you could earn by making your purchases in the accelerated categories offering 3 points per dollar:

  • Dining
  • Entertainment
  • Recurring Bill Payments

Also, remember that you earn 5 points per dollar on travel purchases.

Our review of this offer

BMO has decided to increase its official welcome offer for the BMO eclipse Visa Infinite* Card, from 40,000 to 70,000 points.

The offer we are presenting above is EXCLUSIVE to Milesopedia: 70,000 points, which is 10,000 points more than the one displayed on the BMO website.

The first part of the offer is relatively simple to obtain:

  • 40,000 points after $3,000 in purchases in 3 months.
  • The second part is for those who will regularly use the card: you will earn 2,500 points after $2,000 in purchases from the 4th month up to the 15th month (for a total of 30,000 points).

To better explain the breakdown of the welcome bonus and provide a visual aid, here is a summary table, also including the required spending and points earned through these expenses (based on purchase categories of 1 to 5 points per dollar):
