To the point You can easily multiply your points with the Moi program when you spend strategically. Find out which bonus points are offered most often and which are the rarest to watch out for in each category.

In order to maximize the accumulation of points offered by the new Moi program, certain strategies need to be deployed. Some products offer points regularly, others less often. Here’s an overview of the frequency of points based on a weekly grocery list.

Every week, the website Les accros des points M publishes a list of bonus points available in grocery stores. Drawing on the analysis published by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, I have compiled the data according to the following categories:

  • Bakery
  • Grain products
  • Fruits
  • Vegetables
  • Dairy products and eggs
  • Meat, poultry and substitutes
  • Fish and seafood
  • Frozen foods
  • Snacks
  • Pantry
  • Beverages
  • Household products

Top categories in terms of frequency

To keep an eye on the points on offer, the site Les accros des points M publishes a weekly list of bonus points available in grocery stores. An average grocery list includes fruits, vegetables, condiments, proteins, snacks, baked goods, dairy products and beverages.

The strategy of planning purchases early when points are on offer helps you accumulate points quickly. The trick is to take advantage of the bonus points offered, and to avoid at all costs buying out of necessity without receiving bonus points in return.

Over the past 22 weeks, certain categories have been offering points more frequently, including fruits (150), vegetables (123), meat, poultry and substitutes (129), dairy products and eggs (103), pantry products (136) and beverages (155). Since the analysis covers 22 weeks, we can be sure to have points offers every week in each of these categories

moi Program Grocery purchases – Rarer products

On the other hand, certain products are rarely offered in bonus points, so it’s best to seize the opportunity when it presents itself. You don’t want to find yourself in the position of buying a product that offers no bonus points in return. More concretely, butter, flour, salmon, maple syrup, aluminum foil and laundry detergent very rarely offer bonus points. So take the opportunity to stock up when points are offered.

Bottom line

An analysis of the past 22 weeks reveals 3 main trends:

  • Points vary from one offer to another for the same product. It is therefore necessary to plan ahead to seize the opportunity when the product offers higher points, around 25 to 30 points, rather than when the product offers bonus points between 10 and 15 points.
  • The rarer the bonus point offer, the more generous it obviously is. So keep in mind that if the points are high, it’s because the product rarely offers bonus points.
  • Although it’s still too early to say for sure, the banners of the moi Program seem to be increasingly limiting their bonus points offer in favour of member prizes. It is therefore recommended to stick to purchases that offer points, by planning and pairing them with points events.
