To the point Where can you book this autumn for a drink or a good meal with a colourful background? Here is our selection of terraces in Quebec!

Last lap of the summer 2021. We are still taking advantage of the warm days to enjoy all water activities in Quebec. In addition, there are BBQs, hikes, meals on the terrace, family gatherings and meetings with friends.

The start of the school year and the official return to work are, however, right on the corner. Sorry to remind you.

However, beautiful weekends will follow in September and October during which the spectacle of autumn colours will amaze us again and again.

So like the beautiful list on the Tastet website, the most beautiful street terraces in Montreal, I surveyed our community. This article lists several suggestions from Milesopedia members, as to the best terraces to enjoy these beautiful fall days in the province of Quebec.

Whether in the country or in the city, on the waterfront or on a rooftop, Quebec has an offer that many envy. Here is our best of 2021 fall terraces to chill out in Quebec.

Terraces in the Quebec City area

Many suggestions have come from our members in the National Capital Region. Here are four of them.

  • Quai 1635 in Cap Rouge. You will have the chance to admire the beauty of the river and the colours that can be seen on the other side of the river on Saint-Nicholas.
  • The roof terrace of the Diamant theatre. From the fifth floor, the view is of Old Quebec. Place d’Youville, Château Frontenac, fortifications and Parliament Hill are surrounded by numerous trees whose flamboyant colours will enhance your aperitif.
  • L’Îlot Repère Gourmand located on the shores of Lac Beauport. We go there for brunch, or an aperitif. But also for lunch and dinner.
  • Mona et filles, on Île d’Orléans. You can discover the artisanal vodka or the sangria with blackcurrant wine, which you can sip under the pergola. As a bonus, you get a view on the bridge.

Terraces in Centre-du-Québec

  • La Grange Pardue. What a beautiful view of the village of Ham-Nord, the hop and barley fields and Mount Ham. This brewery farm will make you experience the sweetness of autumn with its beers and edibles. Marcel Fecteau’s paintings of this site depict it well.

Terraces in the Eastern Townships

When you say fall colours, you also say Eastern Townships. Here are the terraces our members suggested. We have selected four of them.

  • First of all, with its view of the English gardens and Lake Massawipi, the heated terrace of the Hovey Manor Tap Room, open on weekends, has an undeniable charm.
  • Then, we go for La Buvette du Centro in Sherbrooke, an interesting concept of vegetarian bistro-bar with a small ecological footprint. Its intimate backyard is surrounded by trees that will be quite colourful throughout the fall.
  • Espace hôtelier Quatre saisons in Orford. Its Burger Pub and its terraces overlooking the flamboyant Mount Orford will delight your taste buds.
  • Finally, we end with La Brasserie du lac Brompton which boasts the most beautiful terrace in the Eastern Townships. Directly on the lake shore, the view is indeed splendid. First come, first served seating.

Terraces in Montérégie

Le Bleu moutarde and Le Cracheur de feu. These are two excellent restaurants in Old Beloeil, located almost side by side. Their terraces are on the North Shore of the Richelieu River. You can admire Mont St-Hilaire which will be dressed in colour in a few weeks. A short hike to Lake Hertel afterwards?

Chaudière-Appalaches and Bas-Saint-Laurent

Tête d’allumettes. Here is a well-frequented micro-brewery in St-André de Kamouraska. It serves beers on tap, bottled beers, spirits and soft drinks. Add some snacks and you’re all set with your wool shirt for inner peace. Just a stone’s throw from the river, you can watch the sun set.

Ras L’Bock, Artisans Brasseurs of Saint-Jean Port Joli. You can drink one (or more!) of the thirteen lines of cask ales and eat well. Hurry before the terrace closes for the cold weather. It too faces the great river with a breathtaking view. Small breeze included.

Terraces in Mauricie

The Sacacomie Hotel and Geo Spa. We can’t ignore the beautiful Mauricie region and its hardwood forests, which make us see all kinds of colours. Go to Sacacomie for a bird’s eye view of these beloved Quebec spaces.

Terraces in Gaspésie

The Carpinteri Vineyard in St-Ulric. The Gaspé Peninsula is rarely mentioned when it comes to harvest time. However, we should see you there this fall. Actually, the place is located in the administrative region of Bas-St-Laurent but the tourist region of Gaspésie.

Field and greenhouse vines produce excellent grapes and a variety of very good red and white wines. Let’s take advantage of it, the place is open until November.

Terraces in Outaouais

Les Brasseurs du temps. The institution is a microbrewery, a restaurant and a beer museum, and also has a terrace. Our Gatineau resident members are unanimous in recommending it. We will celebrate autumn!

Panorama Café of the Museum of History. First of all, what a magnificent museum! And then a terrace that opens up the view of Parliament Hill across the Ottawa River. We suggest you try a Mehalabya, an Egyptian dessert to complement your visit to the “Queens of Egypt” exhibition.

Restaurant l’Arôme. Integrated in the Casino, an evening there will be quite elegant. The terrace has a view of Lake Lemy and the cuisine is excellent.

Terrasse îlot. One of our members recommends this last terrace, located on the top floor of a parking lot. You can admire the view of the city and enjoy the many unusual settings. The place offers menus from several local restaurants.

Terraces in Montreal

There is no shortage of choices in Montreal. Don’t you think so? First of all, the offer is very generous in the context of Montréal à Table, which will be held from September 1 to October 11. Just check the “Terraces” box to see dozens of restaurants offering an outdoor autumn atmosphere.

We have selected the following five. Not all of them are participants in the Montreal à Table, but they are either unanimous or of interest to our members who have not yet visited them.

First, the rooftop terrace of the William Gray Hotel offers food and drink. The brunches are particularly popular. The view overlooks the Old Port of Montreal but also the river and St. Helen’s Island, whose trees become flamboyant in September. The terrace is heated for cooler evenings.

St-Ambroise Terrace: the beautiful terrace is located on the banks of the Lachine Canal and is a favourite with sports enthusiasts who want to quench their thirst after a bike ride, jog or simply meet up with friends. The terrace is open in season. Don’t wait too long!

Boris Bistro: 1st certified gluten-free restaurant in Quebec, the terrace on McGill Street is inviting. Nestled in a courtyard lined with mature hardwoods, the colours will be on point!

Finally, the terrace “Les Enfants Terribles” at Place Ville-Marie. On the 44th floor in the heart of the city, it is the highest of them all. The 360-degree panorama overlooks Mount Royal, among other things.

For a meal or a drink, unquestionably as good as the view.
