To take advantage of this protection, simply decline the Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) or similar option offered by the car rental agency.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<\/aside>\n\n\n\n<p>In some countries, car rental agencies require<strong> a large deposit on the credit card.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" class=\"thirstylink\" title=\"American Express Platinum Card<sup>&reg;<\/sup>\" href=\"\/go\/amex-platine\/\">The Platinum Card<sup>&reg;<\/sup><\/a> has a significant advantage of being a Charge card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Charge card has <strong>No Pre-Set Spending Limit on Purchases, <\/strong>and this is where we have had great use in our round-the-world trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, in South Africa, the car rental agency required a $5,000 deposit on our card!
