However, as of October 2024, it is no <a href=\"https:\/\/mp-2702.milesopedia.dev\/en\/news\/programs\/cobalt-amex-multiplier-outside-canada\/\">longer possible to earn these multipliers abroad<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"Scotiabank Gold American Express<sup>&reg;<\/sup> Card\" href=\"\/go\/scotiabank-gold-american-express-card\/\" rel=\"noindex\">Scotiabank Gold American Express<sup>&reg;<\/sup> Card<\/a> has emerged as a very attractive option in recent months. Not only does it charge no conversion fees for foreign currency transactions, but it also now offers the possibility of having its multipliers on the same categories as in Canada:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"component component__list\"><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>5 points per dollar spent<\/strong> in grocery stores, restaurants and entertainment centers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>3 points per dollar spent<\/strong> on gas, public transit and streaming services.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">This is <strong>unofficial<\/strong> news<\/span>. And it probably won&#8217;t be announced by Scotiabank (as it was by American Express Canada for the <a href=\"https:\/\/mp-2702.milesopedia.dev\/en\/credit-cards\/american-express-cobalt-card\/\">American Express Cobalt<sup>&reg;<\/sup> Card<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The terms and conditions of the <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"Scotiabank Gold American Express<sup>&reg;<\/sup> Card\" href=\"\/go\/scotiabank-gold-american-express-card\/\" rel=\"noindex\">Scotiabank Gold American Express<sup>&reg;<\/sup> Card<\/a> still state the following:<\/p>\n\n\n<aside class=\"component component__quote wp-block-milesgutenberg-quote\">\n\t<div class=\"component__quote__icon\">\n\t\t<i class=\"fa-solid fa-quote-left\"><\/i>\n\t<\/div>\n\t<div class=\"component__quote__content\">\n\t\t<div class=\"component__quote__content__inner\">\n\t\t\t\n\n<p>Accelerated accumulation ratios (6X, 5X or 3X, as applicable) under the Scene+ program (the &#8220;Program&#8221;) will only be o\ufb00erted on current purchases in Canadian dollars. You will earn 1 point Scene+ for every dollar of foreign currency purchases charged to your Scotiabank American Express credit card account (the &#8220;Account&#8221;), after conversion to Canadian dollars.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<\/aside>\n\n\n\n<p>In the past, we&#8217;ve confirmed that foreign currency spending only earns 1X points on this card, even in purchase categories.
