Since September 22, 2022, Scene+ has been introduced in Western Canada and selected businesses in Ontario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rollout went faster than expected in Ontario with a November 3, 2022, launch in Empire Company stores such as Sobeys and Foodland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For <strong>Quebec, <\/strong>the changes took place on March 23, 2023. href=\"https:\/\/mp-2702.milesopedia.dev\/en\/news\/programs\/lcbo-aeroplan-new-partner\/\">to join<\/a> Aeroplan<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Metro bought Jean Coutu in 2017 and will be implementing its MOI program in <a href=\"https:\/\/mp-2702.milesopedia.dev\/en\/news\/programs\/metro-inc-new-moi-rewards-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">May 2023<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Empire (IGA, Sobeys, Safeway, etc.) leaves the program in 2022<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/mp-2702.milesopedia.dev\/en\/news\/programs\/staples-leaves-air-miles\/\">Bureau en Gros<\/a> left the program on July 1, 2022<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shell gas stations are <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.newswire.ca\/fr\/news-releases\/sobeys-conclut-lacquisition-de-stations-dessence-shell-au-quebec-et-au-canada-atlantique-509822241.html\">owned by<\/a> Sobeys at Quebec and in the Atlantic provinces, which does not suggest that the relationship with AIR MILES will continue. Even though Shell has <a href=\"https:\/\/mp-2702.milesopedia.dev\/en\/news\/programs\/shell-partnership-air-miles\/\">renewed<\/a> its partnership with AIR MILES in Canada.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The main competitor, <a href=\"https:\/\/mp-2702.milesopedia.dev\/en\/reward-program\/aeroplan\/\">Aeroplan<\/a>has signed a string of partnerships, such as with <a href=\"https:\/\/mp-2702.milesopedia.dev\/en\/news\/programs\/starbucks-canada-aeroplan-partner\/\">Starbucks<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/mp-2702.milesopedia.dev\/en\/news\/programs\/uber-aeroplan-expanded-partnership\/\">Uber<\/a>, and has solid <a href=\"https:\/\/mp-2702.milesopedia.dev\/en\/best-credit-cards-in-canada\/aeroplan\/\">credit card<\/a> agreements with <a href=\"https:\/\/mp-2702.milesopedia.dev\/en\/cards\/american-express-canada\/\">American Express<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/mp-2702.milesopedia.dev\/en\/cards\/cibc\/\">CIBC<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/mp-2702.milesopedia.dev\/en\/cards\/td\/\">TD<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>What are the major retail partners left in the program? This has prompted AIR MILES members to find <a href=\"https:\/\/mp-2702.milesopedia.dev\/en\/guide\/strategy\/air-miles-cash-strategies-alternatives\/\">alternative strategies<\/a> for using their miles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, the involvement of AIR MILES members in events such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/mp-2702.milesopedia.dev\/en\/rewards\/special-offers\/shop-the-block\/\">Vir\u00e9e de Quartier<\/a> has declined due to a lack of interest in the program and the reduction in the rewards offered (to AIR MILES&#8217; credit, the two years of COVID-19 have not helped).<\/p>\n\n\n<aside class=\"component component__deferred_contents wp-block-milesgutenberg-deferred-contents\">\n\t\t<\/aside>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-bottom-line\">Bottom Line<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Scotiabank and Cineplex have pulled off a major coup by teaming up with the Empire Group to bring the Scene+ program to hundreds of grocery and drug stores across the country. This is to combat the well-established <a href=\"https:\/\/mp-2702.milesopedia.dev\/en\/reward-program\/pc-optimum\/\">PC Optimum<\/a> program as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AIR MILES is clearly the big loser here. And we look forward to the redesign of the program following its purchase by BMO.
